On Wednesday, October 5th, 36 members of the King City FFA traveled up to Salinas and competed in the annual Opening and Closing Ceremonies competition at Everette Alvarez High School. The sectional officers conducted the Opening Ceremonies which lead to the explanation of the contest and round 1 on the competition. Afterwards the finalist teams were announced, King City FFA had Advanced team 1 and both Novice teams move on to the finals. By the end the results were announced and King City FFA wrecked it. In the preliminary round for the Novice team we have Allison Wagner, Angel Trujillo, Clarissa Rios, Faith, Head, Xavier Salone, and Lyric Drinkwine for getting outstanding office. For overall outstanding novice officers, we have Allison Wagner as president, Angel Trujillo as Vice President, Clarissa Rios as Treasurer, and Lyric Drinkwine as Sentinel. In the preliminary round for Advanced we Clyde Becker as vice president, Justin Mantel as treasurer, and Janice Burns as Sentinel. Congratulations to all the outstanding officers. Novice team 1, which consisted of Allison Wagner, Angel Trujillo, Maddie Edgar, Faith Head, Xavier Salone, and Lyric Drinkwine, placed as best overall novice team and Novice team 2, which consisted of, Felipe Cruz, Patric Tipton, Tiauanna Taylor, Clarissa Rios, Clarissa Garcia, and Jasmine Perea placed 4th overall. Advanced team 1, which consisted of Matthew Umbarger, Clyde Becker, Annahi Manriquez, Justin Mantel, Emily Brewen, and Janice Burns, placed 2nd overall and Advanced team 2, which consisted of Brianna Hernandez, Israel Merecias, Sam Nuno, Avery Girard, Rosalinda Nieto, and Kayla Hawkinson, placed 4th overall. Our very own officer team placed 1st overall and Mackenzie Herne Received outstanding secretary. Congratulations to everyone who competed and thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone and were willing to compete.
